So who is Steve steve’s world + what’s he tagging?

Steve is a research project whose participants are building a tagging tool, collecting tags, analyzing data, and engaging in discussion. We hope to apply what we learn to improving access to works of art.

Join the first experiment in social tagging of art museum collections.

I agree. Though I’ve not seen these “body prints” in person, how thought provoking they are.

Eagle Feather, the UNT Publication for Undergraduate Scholars included a section on The Fresco Paintings of San Baudelio in its 2005 issue. The two frescoes now at the Meadows are at the center of the discussion.

Art Conservation on NPR

This very interesting audio piece was brought to my attention. It’s about the new art conservation lab at the National Portrait Gallery (Smithsonian). The conservation lab has been refurbished, the conservators are now behind glass and visible to the public at all times. They are dressed in Mizrahi designed aprons that are also for sale in the gift shop.

How brave they are.

Americans in Paris = JYA

Americans (artists) in Paris
I just heard the acronym JYA for Junior Year Abroad which is just what I did in college. I spent most of my junior year in Paris and little did I know I was in such good company.

So I guess you could say I’ve followed in the footsteps of many fine artists who lived in the city of lights, enjoying the lifestyle and a wonderfully artististic society. I caught this story on the CBS Sunday Morning show this past weekend highlighting an exhibit opening in Boston at the Museum of Fine Arts.

100 paintings by some 40 artists with an accompanying video.

I just talked with my college roommate –also an artist– about going back to Paris. Maybe the fall of 2007 or 2008 – I think that would be so so so great!

Kevin’s site is lovely. All he needs is just more of the same. Perhaps I can get all those photos to K and John for updates. Kev will be participating again this year in The White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour. Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15.
